Eastek Open Items: Lumimed 500-Unit Build

Prepared for the Eastek call, Tuesday August 11, 2026, 2:00 PM ET. Dates below are the date each item was first asked for, on the record.

Eastek holds components for roughly 412 to 418 of the 500 units and is short about a dozen electronics parts, and no part-numbered shortage list with committed dates has ever been produced. The oldest open ask on this sheet dates to June 25. Everything on the October 16 delivery date rests on the last 85 units.

The agenda: five things to get out of this call

Lock the shortage list. Which parts are short for the last 85 units, in what quantity, with a committed date on each.

Confirm or lose October 16. A yes or no on the date, said out loud, with the parts answer behind it.

Communicate that we stage orders. First build 500, then 2,000 to 5,000. No answer on the 25,000 number today.

Get the root cause in writing. Eastek and SmartShape jointly on the housing misalignment, before any release of the balance.

Confirm the drawing revision and the delivery dates. Which revision they build to, and when the pilot and pre-production units shipped.

Summary notes, prior meetings

June 25. Anne Pettinger writes that Eastek is "currently working on updating the quote for the product and getting pricing for the components that we are short on for the next 500pcs build," and is waiting on packaging documentation from Lumimed: giftbox artwork, IFU manual, and updated drawings. That message is the origin of both the shortage list and the packaging ask, and neither side has closed its half since.
July 10. Mark Cartellone flagged that SmartShape shipped parts to Eastek in 2022 and that Eastek should already hold those components rather than sourcing them again. Brittany's read was blunter: "so that might be a problem because maybe they lost" them. Avery saw Eastek going back to SmartShape for more plastic parts, "just duplicating the 25,000 unit order." Adam raised the report promised weeks earlier on which individual pieces were missing; Brittany: "we haven't gotten anything."
July 31. The drawing revision came apart: Eastek is holding a revision 3 while Lumimed believes something else is current, still "being clarified" by email that morning. The housing misalignment (about 20 percent of the ten black pilot units, all four white pre-production units) still has no written joint root cause. Avery could not send the full document folder, so the executed agreement and most POs remain uncirculated.
August 7. Anthony: "they claim they have 415 of our units that can be completed. We're only looking for 85 more to make that initial 500 batch, and what we're asking is how many of those components are we lacking for the remaining 85. It's not difficult." Adam: the list went over, Eastek said three weeks, "and that was already five weeks ago." Brittany: "it's already August, and they're promised by October, and we're all up in the air and everybody's pointing fingers."
